About Rustique
Rustique is an online antique store founded by Paul Tonnelier, offering a curated and ever-changing selection of antique pottery, artworks, and decorative lighting from France and across Europe.
From the humble to the exceptional, each piece is selected for its craftsmanship, inspiring aesthetic, and the relaxed elegance it brings to interiors.
Our Inspiration
Paul studied fine art in Paris and London. After working in galleries, he founded Rustique in 2020 to bring art and antiques together under one roof.
‘My inspiration comes from growing up in a family of traditional cabinetmakers in the French countryside, surrounded by craft, art, and nature. I wanted to reimagine this connection, blending it with a personal appetite for history and interiors. Thoughtfully picked objects and artworks transport us to distant places and times, creating an inspiring backdrop for everyday life.’
Our Collection
Paul specialises in 17th- to early 19th-century pottery from France and the Mediterranean, from painterly plates and folk jugs to ornate tulipieres, with an emphasis on colour, pattern, and rarity.
This is complemented by early 20th-century paintings, including post-impressionist landscapes and works from the School of Paris. Each piece is selected for its artistic expression, rich palette, and sense of authenticity.
Antique mirrors and decorative lighting complete the stock.
